Acne Scars
The single worst part about having an acne problem is that acne scars are very common to those who suffer from serious acne. A scar is a result of injury done to tissue, and regardless of the course, they will either be raised on the skin or actual depressions. If they are lucky, some people are able to only suffer from a few acne scars, but some others can have much more severe scarring. Unfortunately, if the scarring is too severe, confidence will wind up suffering badly as a result.
So, let’s take a look at the major facts behind acne problems.
Acne Scars – The Source
· Acne is actually the reaction of your body to dead cells, sebum and bacteria that gets all plugged up into the skin’s sebaceous follicle, since the skin gets irritated by these substances and infect the skin.
· Your body chooses to fight off the bacteria in the follicle by sending white blood cells to the actual site of the pimple, hoping to fix the situation.
· The two types of acne scars are raised scars and depressed scars.
· The severity of the acne problem tends to be directly proportional to the risk of developing acne scars.
· Acne scars do not often disappear completely, but more often than not, may diminish, but not completely vanish.
Acne Scars – Treating Them
· Always look at the severity of the scarring before you decide just how much treatment is necessary. If there are only smaller scars, the treatment may not be necessary at all.
· More extensive acne scars can easily harm one’s confidence, but always look at the cost, expected outcome, and how viable the actual treatment will be for you.
· Of the treatments available, collagen injections are quite possible, where the collagen is injected over three to six months under the patient’s skin, helping to fill and stretch the area.
· Fat transfers are also possible, where fat cells get removed from your body and then injected into the actual area of the acne scar.
· Dermabrasion is an extremely effective acne scar treatment where a brush that is powered at high speeds takes away the surface skin and smoothes out acne scars. It doesn’t work for them all, but it can certainly help.
· Microdermabrasion is a little less invasive than what dermabrasion can do, yet still works in the same fashion. Crystals of aluminum oxide can get passed through a specific vacuum tube and will remove the skin cells on the surface. There are several treatments in order.
Acne Scars – Prevention
· The best way to prevent acne scars would be to make sure you get your acne treated as early as possible.
· Try to control the inflammation of your acne as best you can.
· Emotional scarring can result from the acne scars, so trying to find the best treatment available is very important.
· Always remember that you should talk to your dermatologist and see about what your options for treatment are.
