What is the hard substance in a pimple?

Published by Jack under More Acne Information Edit This

Pimples generally do not have a hard substance to them, but there is a skin condition found in many people that have fair skin that resemble a pimple.  What you probably have is called milia which is a tiny white bump or a small cyst that forms on the skin because dead skin gets trapped in the pores on your face, and remains there until it is released.  Milia is not a cause for any concern except pure vanity. This is actually what is commonly referred to as baby acne which commonly will clear up on its own for babies.  For adults however, since they have stopped growing, the only real way to get rid of them if you are worried about appearance is to see a dermatologist who can use electricity to zap them away.

Are there healthy foods that cause acne?

Published by Jack under More Acne Information Edit This

Although many foods such as bananas and corn are rumored in to cause acne because they are high in sugar which some people believe causes an insulin surge leading to acne inflammations, most research is inconclusive towards actually proving that the food is directly at fault for causing your acne.  Therefore, if you really think that a type of food is causing your acne, simply stop eating it for awhile.  Chances are you are not going to see any drastic change in your acne, because what is more likely causing your acne are poor nutrition and a bad diet.

To help your acne instead of cutting healthy foods out of your diet take out the unhealthy foods. Not only will this give you a more balanced diet but will also give you more energy to do the things you love to do.

What causes chin acne?

Published by Jack under More Acne Information Edit This

The causes of chin acne are not much different than normal acne.  Although chin acne is more likely to appear in adults, its causes are still the same problem just exhibited in a different location on the face.  Changes in your hormones are likely to play an imminent role in your chin acne, and unfortunately that is something you have little control over outside of taking, or not taking your birth control pill.  There are some adult medicines, like cortisone that can cause acne, but most likely the acne on your chin is simply caused from a combination of poor nutrition, genetics, hormone changes, and an increased build up of oil on your face.

What is the clear liquid in pimples?

Published by Jack under More Acne Information Edit This

The clear liquid in your pimples depends on what type of pimple you are popping.  There is a reasonable chance that it may be the white blood cells that have assembled to fight the bacteria that caused the pimple, but the more likely scenario is that it is simply puss from the swelling.  Here’s the bigger question, why are you finding clear liquid in your pimples?  The number one thing you are not suppose to do is pop a pimple, because it will not only result in scarring, but because you are releasing the bacteria and allowing it to settle all over your face.

Will vitamin A help clear acne?

Published by Jack under More Acne Information Edit This

The answer is yes and no.  Vitamin A along will not cure acne, but since poor nutrition is a cause of acne, taking a multi-vitamin to help enhance all aspects of your vitamin deficiencies will improve your health in turn helping to clear up your acne and rebuild your health.  Simply taking one vitamin, rather it be vitamin A, or other rumored vitamins such as vitamin E and B5 is not going to balance your health which means you are not getting any closer to clear skin.  The real concern here should be your health, with a clear face as a welcome side effect.

Vitamin A can be found in a wide range of foods such as carrots, sweet potatoes, cantaloupe, winter squash, turnip greens, kale, pumpkins and so much more. Eating foods that are good for you will help not only your acne but your overall health.

What is an easy home remedy for acne?

Published by Jack under More Acne Information Edit This

There are multitudes of home remedies you can try that may help your acne.  Whether they actually work for you or not is a different story since everybody’s skin reacts differently.  Some of the more popular remedies include using toothpaste on exposed pimples and covering one’s entire face with oatmeal and allowing it to dry before washing the face.  The reason why both of these remedies may help treat acne is because the properties of both oatmeal and toothpaste will help dry out your face.  Acne is often caused by too much oil lying on the skin so therefore they help cleanse the face of excess oil. One word of warning is not to use these remedies often as they will cause excess drying in your skin. Be careful using any kind of home remedy on your skin.

What is a best way to pop a pimple?

Published by Jack under More Acne Information Edit This

You really should not be popping a pimple at all because doing so while alleviating the swelling for a time being, is only most likely going to make the pimple worse and potentially cause scarring.  Dermatologists disagree over if it is really ever helpful given most times you are releasing bacteria all over your face when you do so.  It goes hand in hand with the myth that a cut needs air to heal.  Really neither of these is true, but it seems to make us feel better to assume they are.

If vanity is getting the best of you; try applying a heavily concentrated benoxl vanishing medication on the pimple overnight before popping it.  If you must, don’t use your fingers to pop the pimple as you are simply getting more bacteria on the area and running the risk of infection.  Use a q-tip or a disinfected needle to gently pop the surface and then use tissues to hold the pimple until it is dry.  Immediately apply acne medication with benoxl peroxide or if you do not have any at least apply hydrogen peroxide or rubbing alcohol to clean the area and help prevent the risk of scarring.

How can I get rid of body acne?

Published by Jack under More Acne Information Edit This

Acne on your body is caused by the same problems as acne on your face.  It just seems to be more bothersome because it is more bothersome as your clothes are frequently rubbing on it irritating the skin.  Try changing your diet to eliminate fatty foods, limit your sugar intake, and stop eating fast food.  If you have a high stress levels in your life try to find healthy ways to relax.

If you exercise a lot to either stay in shape or to help reduce stress more than likely you are probably producing an extreme amount of sweat that is clogging your pores. Make sure to shower immediately after you work out with a deep body cleanser to eliminate your pores being clogged. Even if you only have the ability to rinse off with a soapy wash cloth at a public shower it will help remove some of the sweat and other things that will clog your pores until you can get home to take a more intense shower. You want your work out to be beneficial, not harmful.  You can check out the benefits of working out and exercise here: Benefits of Exercise

There are many acne treatment problems available over the counter that can be used as body wash in the shower that will help prevent breakouts and treat existing pimples. Consult with your doctor, dermatologist or ask the advice of the pharmacist at a local pharmacy. They are likely to be able to suggest a good brand for you.

Should I see a dermatologist about my acne?

Published by Jack under More Acne Information Edit This

Some people’s acne will never go away with over the counter medications because chemical imbalances are why acne keeps reoccurring.  This is why many dermatologists will put their patients on birth control to help regulate hormone production in the body.  If you have been suffering from chronic acne for a significant amount of time and it is starting to cause depression in you, by all means, go see the dermatologist.  No matter what the cause, a dermatologist can always help you get to the root of acne problems and make you feel better about your appearance.  Plus, many health insurance providers will cover your treatment so review your policy to see if this is the case.

I’m an adult, why do I still have acne?

Published by Jack under More Acne Information Edit This

Most people associate acne with the hormonal imbalances that occur during adolescence therefore they are confused why they are still suffering from acne later in life.  If acne was that simple to explain every teenager would be able to fix the solution easily, but it is not.  Stress, diet, and genes are all also contributing factors to chronic acne outbreaks.  Do adults also suffer from stress, diet, and genetic diseases?  Well there is your answer.  Try to cut back on the stress in your life and eliminate excessive amounts of sugar, fast food, and artificial preservatives from your diet.  Unless your genes are at fault, in which case a dermatologist can help you, these simple steps can help keep your face clean.
