Adult Acne

Published by Jack under adult acne Edit This

The dermatologist can authorize an antibiotic that is taken orally which is used for adult acne and Acne Rosacea.

Your neighborhood drug store has many over-the-counter products to offer you for adult acne. Adult acne is very serious for a lot of people because they can not wear their favorite outfit sometimes if their acne does not cease. When looking into an acne treatment you need to make sure that it includes a daily cleanser, sunscreen and a moisturizer. The treatment needs to be used at least two twice a day. Make sure that you follow the directions exactly or it will not help you get rid of adult acne.

When thinking about appearance or looks, there is a chance that adult acne puts a damper on your plans until it has disappeared completely. When you are trying to make a good impression when you are finding a job in your chosen career, you need to make sure that you are presentable appearance wise. If adult acne is visible on your skin, it may make you feel ashamed. Get Rid of Acne Scars Using Subcision or Augmentation

Published by Jack under acne scars Edit This

There are two procedures that involve needles, they are subcision and augmentation. With subcision a needle is used to weaken the fibrous bands causing the scar to rise up making it level with the upper layer of skin. Think of it as a hole filler. In augmentation fat or collagen is injected into the acne scar. Again this causes the scar to rise up becoming virtually unnoticeable. You need to know the degree of the acne scar before you choose the correct solution to use. In order to figure this out you can look in a mirror to see how shallow or deep the scar is or you can always consult your dermatologist. You definitely can’t treat acne scars overnight but it also won’t take years to remove your acne scars either.

There are numerous ways to eliminate acne scars especially when it comes to modern medication. You can listen to an expert (dermatologist), research the information yourself, or you could even pay a visit to a store that carries medications that help remove acne scars to see which one is best suited for your skin.

After this final stage you can present your healthy, smooth, and great looking skin to others without being scared.

How to Get Rid of Acne Scars

Published by Jack under acne scars Edit This

You are now free of acne. Of course using the right medication definitely was a contributing factor to this freedom. But, when you look in the mirror and notice all the acne is gone you notice that there are acne scars. You may ask, “How am I going to get rid of these horrible acne scars”? Well, to find the answer all you need to do is read on.

Determining the amount of damage that has been done to your face will help in determining what kind of treatment you will need to help eliminate your acne scars. In general the worse the acne scar the longer the treatments will need to go on. Now let’s take a look at a few treatments that can be used to eliminate acne scars:

First we have a chemical peel. The chemical peel is an intense solution that you apply to your skin and allow it to blister up. Once the skin has blistered up you can then peel away the acne scar layer. This will allow a new fresh, smooth layer of skin to form. It is best to use this treatment on less severely damaged skin. Another treatment you can try it dermabrasion. Dermabrasion is a much more effective way of treating acne scars but the downsides are that it’s a considerably longer recovery time and a much more painful process. This process involves rotating a brush over the acne scar.

One process that has become increasingly popular among patients suffering from acne scars is laser resurfacing. This process involves using a laser to remove the outer layer of skin which allows a new layer to grow that will cover the acne scars. You must be sure to care for your skin after this process because the scar could return. You can go all out and have a surgical procedure done, called punch. During this procedure you are placed under general anesthesia and a tool is used to remove scarring.

Prescription Medications for Acne

Published by Jack under acne products Edit This

Today we will look at a list of prescription medications that a dermatologist may utilize when putting together an acne treatment regimen for you.

Antibiotics: Although these can be quite effective in an acne treatment regimen you should take extra care because overtime the acne causing bacteria can and will develop immunity

Retina: You should always apply sunscreen while applying this antibiotic topically. This medication has proven quite effective in the long term due to it containing vitamin A.

Accutane: This medication is also derived from vitamin A but it is taken orally. Care should be taken when using this particular medication because it comes with some strong side effects. When taken by women who are pregnant it can cause birth defects. You should only use this type of medication if you have a severe acne treatment.

Differin: This medication is quite similar to Retina. The reason it is similar is because it is derived from vitamin A and comes as a tropical type cream. It does have some advantages over Retina though. The biggest being that it has less skin drying effects. When Retina is unavailable Differin is an excellent substitute.

It can be extremely difficult to find an acceptable and effective acne treatment. There are so many solutions out there to choose from you should have no problem finding one that suits your needs. Keep in mind if you have a history of allergies you are better off going to a professional in order to avoid any severe or permanent damage. Laser surgery has become the latest fad in acne treatments. There have yet to be any serious side effects associated with laser surgery except dry skin which helps in an acne treatment anyway.

There are quite a few acne treatments available out there that are easy and pain free. Don’t forget to consult your dermatologist for the best acne treatment for your situation.

Acne Skin Care Products- What’s the difference?

Published by Jack under acne products Edit This

When people think of “acne skin care products” they often assume the product is merely to get rid of acne. This makes them only partly correct.

In truth, acne skin care products do more than just eliminate existing acne. They also combat acne in skin types that are prone to outbreaks and keep acne outbreaks from returning. Also, acne skin care products are used on skin that has already been damaged by acne, such as scars and discoloration.

Because acne skin care products come in numerous forms, they also have different formulas that make up what they are. Depending on the purpose of acne skin care products, some may contain chemicals that others won’t.

In some cases, acne skin care products come in complete sets with each type of acne care available in the set for the purpose of not only removing the acne problem, but also keeping it away and preventing future outbreaks. Acne skin care products can come in tubes, tubs, gels, liquids, or in soap form, but they all work basically the same way.

Depending on the skin condition that the consumer is trying to combat, it is likely that they will either buy or be prescribed several or all of these acne skin care products at the same time and be instructed on a daily regimen to follow for their treatment.

Daily regimens usually instruct the consumer to wash their face to remove acne-causing dirt and germs with a particular acne clarifying soap then applying a toner to the skin to restore Ph balance.

In severe cases, creams or oral acne skin care products might be prescribed to clear up extreme cases of acne before the usual daily care regimen begins.

Acne skin care products can be available through your dermatologist or pharmacy or in any retail store. Depending on the brand of the acne skin care products you are using, the prices can range from as little as two or three dollars a bottle into the hundreds.

Also depending on the acne skin care products you use, most are available in retail stores or on the internet without need for a prescription from your dermatologist. Others do require a prescription and can only be purchased through your pharmacy.

Is it ok to share your acne skin care products?

You should never purchase acne skin care products used or borrow from friends. Even if the acne skin care products have been used by a close friend or family member, that you know practices good hygiene, it is possible that acne-causing bacteria could be in the product. There is also a risk that the product won’t be formulated correctly for your personal Ph balance or skin type, which could actually further damage your skin.

On the same token, you should never sell or give acne skin care products away to other people if you have previously them.

As always, it’s advised to consult with your dermatologist before buying or using any new acne skin care products to ensure that you are using the right product for your individual case.

How to Cure Acne Lesions

Published by Jack under Acne Information Edit This

Treatment of acne lesions varies and a person’s response to treatment depends on many factors.  One form of treatment may be effective to one person but not to the next person.  For some persons, natural remedies work effectively while over-the-counter medications produce good results to some people.

Still for others, the guidance and care of a dermatologist is needed.  Often, changes in diet and lifestyle contribute well to treating acne.  Most experts advise that treatment of acne should be done inside and out.  This means that a person needs to make changes in his or her diet to make sure that body toxins are eliminated properly.

Changes to what you eat and drink should accompany any medication or topical remedies that you apply on your acne lesions.  You should try to look for the acne treatment that works best for you.  Once you find a perfect regimen to treat your acne lesions and keep it away, then you should keep on doing it.  You should be on your way to preventing those acne lesions from coming back and getting a smoother, younger-looking skin.

A Closer Look at Acne Lesions

Published by Jack under Acne Information Edit This

Occurring in most people from the age of twelve to forty-five, acne is an abnormal skin condition that is manifested through acne lesions that sprout on your face, shoulders, chest and back.  These lesions are more commonly known as pimples, whiteheads and blackheads.  The severity varies from age to age and from person to person.  The causes of acne are attributed to many factors.  Stress, nutrition, hormonal changes, drugs, allergies and overactive oil glands are common causes of acne lesions.

Acne lesions result from changes in the processes of the sebaceous follicles, which form part of the human skin.  These are essentially hair follicles attached to the sebaceous glands which produce sebum, an oily substance found in the face, back, chest, neck and shoulders.  Acne lesions could be in the form of whiteheads and blackheads, also known as comedones.  They may include pustules, macules and papules.  Acne lesions could also be nodular or cystic, a severe form of acne which can be more discomforting and leave more visible and severe scars.Below are some types of acne and their characteristics.

Whiteheads are comedones that occur when bacteria and sebum are trapped below the surface of the skin.

Blackheads are comedones that occur when trapped bacteria and sebum arise to the follicle surface.  The black or dark color is caused by the skin’s pigment, melanin.

Pustules are dome-shaped acne lesions that contain pus. Pus is a mixture of dead skin and white blood cells plus bacteria.  The pustule heals with no visible scars, provided it does not graduate onto a cyst.

Papules are solid and small acne lesions that arise above the skin’s surface. While papules are not readily visible, a group of them clumped together on the surface of the skin gives that sandpaper-y feel to the skin.

Macules are the reddish spots left after acne lesions are healed.   The redness will disappear after a few days or weeks.  An entire area of the skin may look reddish and inflamed, when a group of macules is present.

Nodules are acne lesions that, like papules, are also solid and dome-shaped.  Unlike papules, however, nodules are inflamed and are nested deep into the skin’s layers.  A nodule may destroy tissue and leave deep scars.  They are also quite painful.

Cysts are like pustules but are larger.  They are sac-like acne lesions that contain pus.  They may be inflamed and very painful. Similar to nodules, cysts go deep into the tissue and may leave sever scars after treatment.
